Seitei Iaidō Promotion Requirements

The Nippon Kobudō Jikishin-Kai ("JKI") has authorized the IWU Budōkai to establish a dan-kyū ranking system specifically for Eishin-Ryū Seitei Iaidō in order to allow IWU students to learn the Zen Nippon Kendō Renmei seitei iai kata, which are practiced more widely throughout the world than Musō Jikiden Eishin-Ryū Iaijutsu

Ranking in Eishin-Ryū Seitei Iaidō is not registered with the JKI.  This has advantages and disadvantages.  It is much less expensive (advantage), but does not have the global recognition and acceptance (at least not yet) of JKI registration (disadvantage).

The table below summarizes the requirements of the IWU Budōkai and Nippon Budō Seishin-Kan for promotion in Eishin-Ryū Seitei Iaidō up to the rank of Shodan:
